A friend approached me asking to shoot a commercial for the company he works for, Storage Village. They wanted a 30 second spot to show on the web and advertise their various locations. It was a fun shoot and the ones who helped were nothing but enthusiastic. Everyone had a good attitude and it really contributed to the flow of the shoot.
I was able to use all my lenses and could have used something wider than my 30mm. Possibly a 20mm or 16mm. This was the first shoot I used the Z-finder sticky frame vs the jr frame (which is junk). Definitely worth putting the sticky frame on. There were a lot of shots that were panned and was hard with the Z-finder on the camera. Along with that it was easy to take a still of what I was seeing and show the client the framing of the shot. I think a monitor will be my next purchase.
This was supported on my new Manfrotto 503HDV tripod and worked very well. I am extremely happy with the purchase and recommend it to all shooting with an hdslr. Rails, Zoom H4n, Azden shotgun mic, and my camera moved smoothly and effortlessly.
For audio I used my Azden shotgun mic and a Sony wired lav for the voice over. The Azden was mounted on the camera and worked perfectly as a boom mic. It gave me the results I wanted and minimal post was needed. See my other post to get my first impressions on the Azden shotgun mic.
After a half day of shooting and about a week of editing this is what I came up with. Please comment and leave suggestions. I am always trying to better myself with each video.

Very nice storage commercial, it looks like a very friendly and racially diverse company, if I ever have to store anything in Maryland, im sold!
